Ownership a car with someone else'south name on it?
Am I immune to purchase a car from a dealership and have them put the title nether someone else'south name without them beingness present? Say I want to surprise my father with a car I bought him but he is out of the country on pleasance and won't be back for ii weeks. Can I take the buying nether his proper name or exercise I need to put it under my name and then head to the ministry to fill out the transfer form?

Yeah, but you won't be able to drive the vehicle off the lot, as they'll need his insurance policy and his "John Henry" on the buying.

My neighbour did this. It is a little complicated, just you lot need to find a dealer willing to help yous. He bought the automobile under his begetter'southward proper noun, made payment and everything. The dealership was so willing for him to take delivery with the dealerships dealer plate. After the surprised was said and done, they went back to the dealership with proof of insurance, and the dealership registered the car to their names

Alright what if he was able to insure the car over the phone and add together me equally a secondary driver, will I be able to bulldoze it off the lot or is the signature missing the bigger deal?

Too complicated, every bit the registered owner of the vehicle needs to have out the insurance policy (you can't phone call in and setup your dad as master and yourself secondary).
How about merely having information technology towed to your fathers house, or you register and sign it over to him after.

What makes you lot call up I would telephone call the insurance company when my father can call himself and add me as a secondary over the telephone, no questions asked? He doesn't have to physically be in the land to phone call the insurance visitor.

Non actually gonna be a surprise if you take to explicate to your dad why he needs to fix insurance on some other vehicle. Is he going to do that "no questions asked" equally well?

You can purchase the vehicle equally a co applicant deeming you responsible for the vehicle likewise. For the payments all that's required is your pre authorized debit information. Insurance wise you will need to speak to provider

Why don't wait for your father to come up back and get to the dealership with him?
Yous could tell him that you're looking to buy a machine from a dealership and want his opinion. You then show him the "purchased vehicle" with the salesman for him to go familiar with the car's features & then surprise him by giving him the keys.

Yeah it can be done. But the dealership will need a photocopy of your dad'due south driver licence so they can annals it in his name. When I bought my car a few years ago I signed the finance papers and got the car registered in my dad's proper name for cheaper insurance and made my self secondary driver for insurance.
My dad never needed to come up in the dealership. After I emailed them the DL they prepared paperwork, and after work I went and took possession of the auto.
